I read this article and thought it was excellent. However, its view of why American men look for romance in foreign countries is a bit reductionist. Not all men are looking for meek and submissive women to exploit. Some men, like me, fall through the cracks of dating American style.

I have never fit the social construct of what constitutes a viable male partner according to the prevailing standards. I'm not Anglo enough, tall enough, or macho enough to suit the average American female, who prefers a virile alpha male to stimulate her pheromones. The average American woman looks at me and men like me and assumes that because we're not gushing with testosterone, we're gay, or at least bi, which falls well outside the bounds of acceptable dating and mating material.

My gist is simply that some men have to look far afield for mates and partners because they don't fit the rigid criteria imposed by the typical American female. Think Asia or Latin America. For example, I've found Latinx women to be more receptive to my inimitable charms and more interested in me romantically than the typical WASP female that prefers a Chad-type guy. And the feeling is mutual.

So, you might want to explore in more depth the various reasons American men seek mates outside the US. Their search is not always driven by nefarious motives but by sheer desperation.

Best wishes,

Tony
